The Sister Hazel Experience

It’s not every day that you get to meet one of your heroes or  biggest influences. When I was in college, a friend of mine called me late one afternoon to ask me if I’d accompany her to see her favorite band, Sister Hazel. She had 2 tickets and her other guest had backed out on her. I knew who Sister Hazel was. I’d heard “All For You” on the radio and played it quite frequently at my cover gigs in high school and college. I told her I’d love to go, not expecting anything except a fun night of music with a good friend.

What I got was a first class lesson in song writing, musicianship, and showmanship. Sister Hazel is, by far, one of the most underrated bands from the 90′s. They’re songs are a perfect recipe of music and lyrics. Each one taking Read More...

Well, first of all, I want to thank everyone who came out to the show at Buffalo Wild Wings Casselberry. I think we all had a blast. If you couldn’t make it out, you really missed a lot of fun. Most of my friends brought their kids out there with them and invited friends and family to join. It was a great turn out and the kids had a great time dancing and singing along. Those of you who passed the word on to coworkers and family, I can’t thank you enough. I hope they all enjoyed themselves and that they become new additions to my “Crowd of Tens.”

That what I call you guys, by the way. “A Crowd of Tens” if I haven’t explained it to you before, it was a name I came up with while watching the presidential election. “The senator appeared today to speak to a crowd Read More...

Haiti Quake and How You Can Help!

By now, you’ve all heard about the tragic 7.0 earthquake that shook Haiti to the ground earlier this week. You’ve probably seen the news images of bodies lying along the roads covered in sheets or heard the reports of collapsed schools, hospitals, homes, and government buildings reduced to rubble and the screams for help coming from within. I spoke with a Haitian man that I work with who still has not heard from his family in PAP.

Here’s what I’m doing. I’m playing a show this Friday January 15 at Buffalo Wild Wings Casselberry. 100% of what goes in to my tip jar will be donated to The American Red Cross. I’m hoping, together we can make a difference.

Details on the show can be found at DannyKentMusic.com

I hope, like me, you are wondering how to help.

Danny Kent-”My Own Little World” by Matthew West at Northland Church

Danny Kent-”My Own Little World” by Matthew West at Northland Church

I had the privilege to sing and play with the amazing worship team at Northland, A Church Distributed in Longwood, FL. The sermon that day was on James 2:1-7. Pastor Jeff Bell gave a powerful message about how Jesus and the early Christians viewed and treated the poor. This song was performed at the end to tie it all together as a practical application. I am honored to be the Worship Leader at Northland’s Mount Dora Campus. Check out this powerful song with a great message. Read More...

Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up

Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up

Congratulations to Mr. A-Z for writing one of the most touching songs I’ve heard in a long time. I listened to this song, the day he released it, for for 2 hours straight on repeat. The first time I heard it I ran and got my wife and my son and made them listen to it too. It says exactly how I feel about them. Jason’s vocal is so sincere in his recording, I just hope I was able to do it justice. I was definitely feeling it. I put my back into it.
